for Tuesday, December 14th, at noon:

Scheduled final exam time.

Bring to the exam room -- the 420 Ross Hall Computer Classroom -- your final report, the URL address of your final project website, and a recorded copy in any electronic format (floppy disk, CD-R, Zip disk, DVD-ROM, etc.) the files you used to create the project.

Course Goals

  • To analyze specific audiences and rhetorical situations in the design of large-scale Web sites.
  • To apply the principles of information architecture to the creation of intuitive navigation systems and a seamless user experience.
  • To learn how hypertext markup language (HTML) renders Web pages and supports the use of graphics, video, and other media.
  • To learn the basics of visual design and production as they relate to Web photographs and graphic images.

Textbooks

Software

I recommend using GoLive CS as your site authoring tool, though you may use Dreamweaver or any other Web editor if you want. Course instruction, however, will be geared only to GoLive, so if you use another program, you're on your own. GoLive is available in the Memorial Union bookstore for around $75. For image production and editing, we will be using Photoshop 7.0
