TC 510: Information Design
An online supplement to the
materials and coursework

Geoffrey Sauer | Spring term, 2001

Final Projects:
These are the final student projects from the University of Washington Technical Communication department's spring 2001 term of TC510: Information Design.

The Adaptivity Group, in its final project, created an anthology about creating web information designs for diverse readers' interests, including an introduction to adaptive web sites, designing for overseas Chinese readers, a graphical UI tradeoff cube and designing effective online press rooms.

The Chameleon Group argues in its website that information must be able to change hue according to the surrounding environment. Such changes could be as diverse as designing for smaller screens, using the adaptive power of cascading style sheets, converting science news reporting for the Web or writing for multiple audiences.

The Foobar Group focuses on four main topics for web developers: localization, privacy, security and applied technology.

The Lazarus Group calls for a return to the pioneering spirit of the original Internet developers, discussing similarities between prisons and the modern Internet, challenges and strategies for building accessible websites, the relationship of Vannvar Bush to the modern Web and information design issues around online community-building.
