About LazarUS

The Internet was created by men and women with a revolutionary spirit. These pioneers envisioned an open, accessible system for sharing information and knowledge world-wide. Since 1994, as the general public has taken to the Web, corporate interests have increasingly controlled both the content and the functioning of users' online experience. In this group of papers, we are calling for a return to the pioneering spirit of the original Internet developers. It is time for us as information designers and Web consumers to reawaken, like Lazarus, to new possibilities.

These papers were written and the web site was constructed by Matt Eliot, Wei Gao, Chris Holstrom, and Sandra Maddox, in partial fulfillment of the requirements for TC 510, a graduate course on Information Design in the Technical Communication department at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington, USA.
