Conclusion

Good hypertext writing is more than making the text short and succinct. While the text on a website may be short, adding hypertext links enhances it because the links can give readers more information and the choice to link there. Good web writing involves many facets, a few of which include:

  • thoughtful planning of how the information will be displayed in a non-linear environment
  • reorganizing the information into chunks that can be scanned
  • using headlines, subheads and links to help label and index the information
