Government, Law and Society

This document hopes to integrate political contexts into common reading practices, to show the impact of politics on daily life. With collections that don't compress issues into four-minute morality plays (as the television news do at their most comprehensive), this collection may enable readers to find connections with peoples around the world who live under the global socioeconomic system which affects us all. Gulf War (One)

The 1991 U.S. war against Iraq revealed the shape to postmodern warfare in several dramatic ways. These texts describe a few implications of the resulting role for the world's largest and most highly funded military (for Americans and the citizens of foreign countries) and includes a few descriptions of historic moments which produced the Armed Forces as they exist today.
