Government, Law and Society
This document hopes to integrate political contexts into common reading practices,
to show the impact of politics on daily life. With collections that don't compress
issues into four-minute morality plays (as the television news do at their most
comprehensive), this collection may enable readers to find connections with peoples
around the world who live under the global socioeconomic system which affects us all.

Law and Legislation
In the second half of the twentieth century, courts to become the most powerful
of the three branches of U.S. government, impacting the lives of every American
citizen every day. Though the specificity of laws have long-term impact upon our
position in society, few of us (can or do) follow legal institutions closely
enough to understand their significance well. This collection should allow
interested readers acquire greater general competence in issues of contemporary
American legal theory.
