How to Cite The Thoreau Reader

Thoreau Reader:  Home

For pages about Henry Thoreau, if there is an author's name under the title, then use that name. For the works of Thoreau, he is of course the author. Where no author is indicated, the page author is Richard Lenat. The site editor is also Richard Lenat.

The Thoreau Reader URL is: http://thoreau.eserver.org. (If you do not see "Thoreau Reader" near the top of the page, you have linked to another site.) Use the date of last update shown at the bottom of the home page. The Thoreau Reader is part of the EServer web publishing project, at Iowa State University, in Ames, Iowa.

Paragraphs are numbered on most Thoreau Reader pages; these numbers may be used in citations where you would normally use page numbers for printed works.
